Mineralogy

Traditional Moonstone is usually orthoclase feldspar with fine layers of albite. Light scattering between those layers creates its soft glow, called adularescence. The main formulas are KAlSi₃O₈ and NaAlSi₃O₈. Mohs hardness is about 6-6.5.
